Using a USB

The Mac computers in E6 are on a separate network to other computers in the school.  What does that mean...?

The work you do on the Mac will ONLY save to that specific Mac; if the computer breaks, you will not be able to access your work on another one.

So how can you get around this?

Questionnaire Guidance

Once it comes time for you to create your questionnaire, you will have to come up with about 10 questions to ask a sample of people. These questions should help educate you on what should be included in your school magazine.

Use a website like survey monkey to share your questionnaire and gather data.

Here are examples of possible questions.

School Magazine Questionnaire

What gender are you?
ð     Male
ð        Female

If you were looking at a magazine for a possible school, what would you look for?
ð        Information about the academics
ð        Information about arts programs
ð        Information about the sports programs offered

How many photos would you like to see on the Front Cover?
ð        Just one
ð        Two main images
ð        Lots of smaller images

How much text should be on the Front Cover?
ð        Minimal – just enough to know what the main articles are about
ð        Detailed – I want to know everything that is in the magazine
ð        A bit – I want to be pulled in so that I want to read what’s in there

ð        Nothing – I want the school itself to be the focus

How to Add Fonts to Pages

Font Testing

One of the important aspects of creating a magazine is choosing a suitable font. This means not only for your masthead but also for the other details.

Test not only the obvious fonts but find some interesting ones as well.

Use the website below to download and test fonts you won't find in typical word processors.

Terminology For Analysis

Throughout your coursework you will be required to analyse print magazines (published as well as your own work).
In order to do this, you must speak knowledgeably about what you are analysing.

Here is a slideshare presentation that details the terminology necessary to complete an in-depth analysis.
